Achever / achieve

英语的 "achieve" 来自法语的 "achever" ,而法语的 "achever" (à chef) 则来自拉丁语的 ad- (to) + caput (head) , 意为“to come to a head”——到头了，也就是“完成”啦!(Finir, mener à bien, terminer)。法语的 achever 常译为英语的“finish, complete, end”等词语。

法语的 achever 的使用范围比较广泛，很多事情的“完成”都可以说“achever”。 例如：

再看英语的“Achieve”。它的意思也是“完成，实现，达到”，但更强调为达到目的所需的技巧、忍耐和努力：to gain with effort，to

obtain as a result of exertion(通过努力达到某目标、地位、标准)。翻译成法语时常用“Accomplir, atteindre,

acquérir”。 例如：
