Gathered fans went wild upon seeing the actor, beloved by millions in China. According to the actor, although he has visited China several times before this is the first time he has come to promote a film.

Premiering in the Chinese mainland on Friday, The Revenant earned 65 million yuan ($10 million) that night.

《荒野猎人》3月18日在内地公映，当晚的票房就达6500万元（1000万美金）。

It continued to grow rapidly over the weekend and reached 200 million yuan by the end of the weekend, according to EntGroup’s China Box Office.

票房在周末持续上涨，据艺恩咨询的统计结果，截至20日晚上已收获了2亿元。

The film’s mainland release date was soon settled within 12 hours of DiCaprio winning the Best Actor award at the 88th Academy Awards.

在莱昂纳多·迪卡普里奥获得第88届奥斯卡影帝后的12小时内，就敲定了《荒野猎人》在的上映时间。

Known as "Xiao Li," or "Little Li" among Chinese fans, DiCaprio wrote his nickname on a banner while on stage at the conference.

He also showed off a banner with the caligraphy "tiandao chouqin," or "Heaven rewards the diligent" on it.

Besides being excited about bringing The Revenant to the mainland, DiCaprio also said that he hopes the US and China can set an example for the rest of the world when it comes to environmental conservation, an issue that was highlighted in the film.

除了对《荒野猎人》在内地上映非常激动，迪卡普里奥还表示，他希望中美两国能在环境保护问题上为世界其他作一个好榜样，它同时也在这部电影中有所强调。

"This was a very unique film for a lot of us to make, it’s a different style of film making, we really immersed ourselves in the elements, in these real locations, sub-zero temperatures," DiCaprio said.

他坦言，“对我们很多演员来讲，它是一个非常独特的电影，它有不同的电影制作风格。在气温零下的拍摄现场，我们确实专注的投入到了这些元素里面。”
