Buyer：Well,we've settled the question of price,qua-lity and quantity.Now what about the terms of pay-ment?

Seller：We only accept payment by irrevocable letter of credit payable against shipping documents.

买方：好吧，既然价格、质量和数量问题都已谈妥，现在来谈谈付款方式怎么样?

卖方：我们只接受不可撤消的、凭装运单据付款的信用证。

Buyer：Could you make an exception and accept D/A or D/P?

Seller：I'm afraid not.We insist on a letter of credit.

买方：我明白。你们能不能破例接受承兑交单或付款交单?

卖方：恐怕不行，我们是坚决要求采用信用证付款。

Buyer：To tell you the truth,a letter of credit would increase the cost of my import.When I open a letter of credit with a bank,I have to pay a deposit.That'll tie up my money and increase my cost.

Seller：Consult your bank and see if they will reduce the required deposit to a minimum.

买方：老实说，信用证会增加我方进口货的成本。要在银行开立信用证，我得付一笔押金。这样会占压我的资金，因而会增加成本。

卖方：你和开证行商量一下，看他们能否把押金减少到限度。

Seller：We would prefer you to pay in US dollars.

Buyer：We hope you can accept payment in other cur-rencies except in US dollars.

卖方：我们希望你方用美元支付。

买方：我们希望你方能够接受除美元以外的其它货币。

Buyer：Would you agree to a 60-days credit period?

Seller：Sorry,we require full payment within 45 days.

买方：你同意60日信用期吗?

卖方：抱歉，我们要求45日内付全款。

Seller：We give a ten percent discount for cash pay-ment.

Buyer：But payment by L/C is our method of trade in such commodities.

卖方：对于现金付款，我们给九折优惠。

买方：但是信用证付款是我们关于日用品的贸易方式。

Seller：We could ship your order within ten days of receiving your payment.

Buyer：We prefer payment after delivery,because these goods are very expensive.

卖方：在收到货款的十天内，我们就可以把货送出去。

买方：由于这批货物很昂贵，所以我方希望在交货以后付款。

Seller：We require immediate payment upon presenta-tion of shipping documents.

Buyer：Because of the money problem,I hope that you can allow us to pay in installments with the first payment after delivery,and then we'll pay the rest once a month.

卖方：我方要求贵方在收到货运单据后，立刻支付货款。

买方：由于我方有些财务上的困难，希望贵方能允许我方分期付款，在交货后先支付笔款项，余下的货款则按每月一次支付。

Buyer：Could you make an exception in our case and accept D/P or D/A?

Seller：We regret to say that we are unable to consider your request for payment under D/A terms.

买方：贵方可否为我方的这次生意做一个破例，接受付款交单或承兑交单?

卖方：我方遗憾地告诉贵方，不能考虑你们用承兑交单的方式来支付款项的请求。

Seller：I will appreciate if you can pay 5，000 as a down payment.

Buyer：We can only accept 20%cash payment in local currency.The other 80%by L/C should reach us 15 to 30 days before the delivery.

卖方：如果你能付5，000美元作订金，我会很感激。

买方：我们只能接受20%本地货币现金支付，其余80%应以信用证在交货期前15日到30日开出。
