And这个词是大家在写作和口语里面快用烂的词。 在写作中由于考官能看到你写的文章，所以平时大家不太注意的问题，可能会成为一个小错误。

我们来看一个例子：

在大家仔细读了这篇文章之后不知道能不能发现错误。 没错当然是我们的主人公and了。 And 其实在学术文体中是不能放在开头用的，它往往连接的是两个主谓结构的并列句。

比如说The player is usually the “hero” of the game and too much exposure can encourage children to be self-centered and insensitive to others.

那么你发现了错误但是却没有正确的改正它。请大家一定要牢记，逗号是不能连接两个完整的句子的，除非中间有连词等，连接完整句子的可以是句号或者是分号。

所以这句话变成：

或者

我们再来看一句话：

一起来思考一下。是不是发现了错误了呢?没错，就是应该改成：

Tourism can have detrimental effects, but others believe it is vital to a nation’s economy.

或者

Tourism can have detrimental effects,;others believe it is vital to a nation’s economy.

1. on the contrary. 对于这个词组不止一次的看到出现在同学们的文章中。大家会觉得这个就是一个表示转折的词。但是……我们同样的以例子来说明：

Unemployment rose in the UK. By contrast, the number of unemployed people in Canada fell.

-You had some problems with your hotel, didn’t you?

-On the contrary, the hotel was great , but the airline lost my suitcase.

不知道大家看出问题来了没有。By contrast 表示对比。前后的两者情况都存在，只不过情况相反。失业率在英国上升但是加拿大的失业人数下降。
